Dealer records

What buyers report about each dealership

Dealership records built from real deals — closed or walked away — that buyers chose to share. How often the written quote spelled out every number, how the price compared with market research for the same vehicle, and whether the paperwork matched at signing. Nothing here is an opinion we wrote, and no dealership is named until at least 3 shared deals sit behind the record.

The first records are being built

Records appear here as buyers finish deals and choose to add the dealership. Each one stays private until it has 3 shared deals and has been reviewed, so this page starts quiet and fills in from real negotiations.

How a dealer record is built

  1. A buyer finishes a deal — closed or walked away — and chooses to add the dealership to the records. Nothing is recorded without that choice.
  2. Only the facts of that deal are recorded: whether the written quote spelled out every number, how the vehicle price compared with market research for the same vehicle, how many optional add-ons and fee lines appeared, how many serious gaps were flagged, and whether the final paperwork matched at signing.
  3. Outcomes are combined anonymously. No names, documents, messages, or contact details are part of a record.
  4. A record is published only once at least 3 shared deals are behind it, and only after a Lotly review. Below that it stays private.

What the score is made of

  • 40 points — how often quotes spelled out every number.
  • 25 points — how the price compared with the same vehicle's market research, neutral at the average.
  • 20 points — how often the paperwork matched at signing, with half credit where no buyer has reported yet.
  • 15 points — how often a deal finished without a serious gap flagged in the quote.

What it is not

  • A record describes documentation habits on shared deals. It is not a rating of the people who work at a dealership.
  • It is not a legal finding and not a conclusion about any charge or practice.
  • It is not a recommendation to buy from, or avoid, anyone. Every deal, vehicle, and market is different.
  • A small sample can be unrepresentative, and pricing and practices change over time.

An independent second opinion for anyone buying a car: know if it's actually a good deal, and never have to argue for a fair price alone.
